Dumb Valentine's Day

It was an unusually quiet day at the Angelbright house; Minnie was outside playing with her jump rope while Theo was outside reading a book and keeping an eye on his sister.
“Cinderella dressed in yella went upstairs to kiss a fella,” Minnie said while she skipped, “made a mistake and kissed a snake; how many doctors did it take?”
But as she finished her rhyme, she tripped and fell on her face. The ten-year-old sat up and started to cry.
“Minnie,” Theo gasped, “what’s wrong? are you hurt?”
“No,” Minnie sobbed, “Cinderella died because I wasn’t able to get any doctors.”
Theo got very enraged when he heard that.
“Why is it that every time I think you can’t get any stupider – you prove me wrong?” Theo complained.
“Don’t worry about it,” Minnie said as she stopped crying, “it’s ok to be wrong sometimes.”
Theo started to get back to his book when his cellphone started to ring.
“Hello,” The pickle said under his breath.
“Hi Theo,” His friend Larry replied, “I’m going to the mall to buy a valentine’s gift for Oscar and I was wondering if you’d like to come along.”
“I’m watching my sister right now,” Theo stated.
“It’s no problem,” Larry said, “she can come with us.”
“Are you insane?” Theo demanded, “she’ll just cause trouble.”
“Don’t be so hard on her,” Larry replied, “she’s just a kid. We used to be that way too.”
“The idiot’s more than just a kid,” Theo insisted, “she’s a whole new level of insanity.”
“You’re just overreacting,” Larry said, “tell you what; if she does cause trouble, I’ll treat you to a pizza.”
“Fine,” Theo stated, “we can take her.”
“What are you talking about Theo?” Minnie asked as she approached her brother.
“How do you feel about going to the mall?” Theo said as he ended the call.
“That would be great!” Minnie cheered, “I need to get my valentines.”
“But you can’t cause any trouble,” Theo warned.
“I won’t,” Minnie said as she smiled, but the angry pickle wasn’t so sure.
After a quick car ride, Larry, Minnie, and Theo arrived at the Vector City Mall. The place was filled with various valentine’s decorations and numerous couples shopping for valentine’s gifts and chocolate. Minnie rushed over to the shopping carts and found one her size.
“See you guys later,” She said, “I need to get valentines for everyone in Vector City.”
“Just be sure to meet back at the entrance,” Theo stated.
“I will,” Minnie replied as she started to get various valentines off of the shelves while Larry and Theo looked over various gifts.
“It’s a good thing Oscar’s working,” Larry said, “or I’d never find the time to get something. So, where’s your mom right now?”
“Getting some new traps,” Theo answered, “that crazy cat-girl gets very aggressive on valentine’s day.”
“Well, that’s just life in Vector City,” Larry replied as he picked out a box of chocolates.
“Chocolates,” Theo remarked.
“Yeah, I know it’s the obvious answer,” Larry said, “but we weren’t planning on doing something big. Just dinner and a few gifts.”
“Attention Theo Angelbright,” The mall speaker said, “your sister has been detained for shooting toy arrows at people.”
“When do you want that pizza?” Larry asked.
“After Valentine’s Day,” Theo replied, “I don’t want to ruin your date.”
“Ok,” Larry stated as the Theo hopped to the mall’s detention centre.
Meanwhile, Minnie had been detained by mall security and was trying to explain herself to the security guard watching her.
“You don’t understand,” Minnie pleaded, “I was only trying to help people.”
“MINNIE!!!” Theo shouted as he arrived at the detention centre, “you promised you wouldn’t cause any trouble.”
“I wasn’t causing trouble,” She explained, “I was playing cupid and trying to help people find their true love.”
“You can let her go,” Theo said to the guard.
“Thank you, Theo,” Minnie replied.
“Why do you have to be such an idiot?” Theo complained.
“I though you would understand,” Minnie said, “don’t tell you me you’ve forgotten about love?”
“Let’s just go home,” Theo stated, “I’ve had enough embarrassment for one day.”
Valentine’s day finally came and Theo awoke to the screams of Terra. He looked out his window to find the cat girl trapped in a net.
“You can’t keep me here!” She shouted, “the power of love is on my side.”
“And our valentine’s tradition continues,” The pickle complained.
He walked out of his room and noticed that Minnie wasn’t in her room.
“She must be off on her valentine’s day run,” Theo thought.
He continued to the kitchen where he found a large, heart-shaped box of candy. On top of the box was a note that said “to the best big brother in the world.” Inside of the box was all of Theo’s favourite chocolates.
“The pipsqueak really outdid herself,” He said to himself as he smiled.
A few hours past and Minnie had a few last valentines to give out.
“And here’s one for the Lovingtons,” She said as she placed two valentines in her neighbours’ mail box, “and a special one for Christine.”
“Minnie,” Terra called out, “you have to free me. You can’t let them keep us apart.”
“And here’s one for you,” Minnie stated as she handed Terra a valentine.
“You really do care,” Terra thought as hearts filled her eyes.
“And that’s the last one,” The ten-year-old said as she returned to her house.
Minnie opened the door and found Theo waiting for you.
“Hey Pipsqueak,” Theo said.
“Hi Theo,” Minnie replied, “did you get your valentine?”
“Yes,” Theo stated, “and would you be interested in hanging out with me today?”
“Really?” Minnie asked as her eyes began to sparkle.
“Sure,” Theo told her, “I don’t have anything to do today; so, I’m thinking we could play video games and binge-watch anime together.”
“I’d love too!” Minnie exclaimed as she gave her brother a big hug.
Theo couldn’t help but smile at his little sister.
“She may be a complete idiot,” He thought, “but I wouldn’t trade her for anything.”
